Abstract

The etiology of autoimmune systemic diseases is still unknown. Human retroviruses are suspected of involvement in them. HIV infection and the immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome have been associated to the develo-pment of antiphospholipid syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Sjögren syndrome and systemic vasculitis, among other conditions.
We present two clinical cases that share the presence of autoimmune manifestations within the context of HIV infections.
