Abstract

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a clear recommendation to postpone elective surgeries in patients with the disease in the acute phase, while urgent, non-deferrable procedures should be performed regardless of the presence of infection. There is no clear evidence of what the opportunity should be in elective or time-sensitive surgeries in patients who suffered from COVID-19. This scenario becomes relevant, given that a delay of more than 40,000 surgeries is estimated, which continues to increase in the adult population where the prevalence of the disease has been higher.
