Abstract

Semiology forms the basis of clinical reasoning. The American Association of Medical Schools places the history and physical examination first in generic activities and establishes that all graduates or postgraduate candidates must be trained to apply them(1). As of 2008, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of the Republic has a new curriculum. Semiology teaching begins in the first triennium. The Clinical Surgical discipline is integrated into the Comprehensive General Clinical Cycle (CCGI) during the sixth year of the career, prior to the Compulsory Internship Cycle. In order to know the level of semiological knowledge at the beginning of the CCGI of the students who attended Surgical Clinic 3 in 2018, and thus have it as an input in its development and emphasize those issues detected as insufficient, a study was conducted that He used an open questionnaire with 14 questions that was repeated at the end in order to assess whether during the course an improvement in the initial results was achieved.
