Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), as a medical diagnostic technique, provides images of excellent tissue differentiation without the use of ionizing radiation, allowing the study of multiple injuries and diseases.
The preservation of a safe environment in MRI requires the knowledge and constant vigilance of the health professional in this sector, especially with patients with metallic biomedical implants, such as trauma-orthopedic implants.
The objective of our work is to share the biosafety protocol carried out before the decision to perform MRI on a patient with an orthopedic-trauma implant whose material is unknown, so that other colleagues, faced with this situation, know the steps to follow and thus to be able to carry out the study successfully.
