Eisenmenger syndrome and pregnancy

A case report of a 33-year-old woman, 37 weeks pregnant, with Eisenmenger syndrome diagnosed two years before, during her first childbed is presented. Labor had begun five days before an elective cesarean section planned at 37 weeks, leading to an emergency cesarean. The patient was not fasting and anticoagulated. Under these conditions the patient underwent general anesthesia, gave birth to a newborn (Apgar score of 9), neither anesthetic nor surgical incidents occurred during this procedure. The patient presented normal evolution during early and late puerperal periods, discharge from hospital took place 11 days after cesarean.
