Abstract

The main recognition of the medical researchers who publish in the country will honor in 2012 the memory of Álvaro Haretche.
The prestige of the Medical Magazine of Uruguay (RMU) and the continuity in time of the Medical Magazine of Uruguay Award - Roemmers Laboratory make it unquestionable that it is the most important prize for the original Uruguayan biomedical publication. The excellent works that have deserved it and the academic authority of those who have integrated their selection courts have also contributed to its being considered the main stimulus and recognition of the scientific activity of the medical group.
The decision of the RMU Editorial Board to designate the Prize with the name of Dr. Álvaro Haretche constitutes, in my opinion, a new success.
