GOALS
To encourage research, knowledge and learning in the process of developing scientific studies and to aim at Lifelong Medical Education through the publication and dissemination of studies.

The RMU is a Journal which addresses all areas of biomedical knowledge.
HISTORY
The Revista Médica del Uruguay (RMU) was founded in August 1974.
As a consequence of the political and institutional reality in the country during the seventies and early eighties, publication of the RMU was interrupted for an extended period of time.
In November of 1985, upon restoration of democracy, the second era of the RMU was inaugurated and it continues to be published without interruptions to the present.
FREQUENCY OF PUBLICATION
Currently, there are four numbers published per year.

COPYRIGHT: Authors retain the rights to their articles. In order to reproduce or publish them in other media, authorization should be requested from the author as well as from the Journal's directors.

FEATURES
The RMU is a refereed journal, adhering to the Vancouver Group publishing guidelines. It publishes original articles, eventually revisions and others.
The following sections can be found in the RMU: Original Articles (mainly); Clinical Cases, Reviewed Articles, Commentaries about Scientific Meetings, Revised or Updated Studies, Technical Updates, Medicine and History, and Letters to the Editor.
The RMU is arbitrated by expert professionals (Uruguayan and foreign) who are appointed by the Editorial Board. Work submitted undergoes at least two reviews prior to publication.
The RMU targets medical doctors and biomedical researchers in Uruguay and abroad.
SUBSCRIPTIONS
The RMU can be accessed free of charge at www.rmu.org.uy.
Members of the SMU receive a hard copy of the journal upon request. The same applies to national and international organizations and institutions.
Since 2006, members of the SMU receive a CD-ROM with the four numbers published per year.
